Ambien’s Lesser Known Uses
Brain Injury
Ambien is known to improve brain function and mobility of patients who suffer from akinetic mutism caused hypoxia—a lack of oxygen—and have become immobilized. Akinetic mutism a condition in which the patient is unable to move or speak. It is often due to severe damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain, the final stages of the brain condition Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, acute cases of encephalitis lethargica—sleeping sickness—as well as stroke and ablation of the cingulate gyrus, which was once a common treatment for psychosis.
Ambien allows them to find their words, their voice, and even to move a little in many cases. Millions of people suffer from these conditions every day.
Brains injuries can even cause comas, which we will look at next.
Coma
A coma is defined as a profound state of unconsciousness. Comatose people do not respond normally to pain, light, or sound. They don’t even have sleep cycles. A person in a coma cannot be woken up—unless of course you use Ambien.
Scientists have been using Ambien to wake up comatose patients.
One of the common side-effects of Ambien is sleepwalking. They believe that sleepwalking is caused by increased level of activity in the brain due to Ambien and Ambien CR and that that increase in brain activity gives Ambien the ability to wake patients from comas.
Restless Leg Syndrome
WebMD says that Restless Leg Syndrome, also known as Wittmaack-Ekbom’s syndrome, is “a disorder of the part of the nervous system that affects movements of the legs,” which also prevents many people from being able to sleep. For sufferers of Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), the sensation is not painful, but rather icky, “itchy”, “pins and needles”, or “creepy crawly”. What’s worse, the sensations are at their most extreme when the sufferer is in bed. Roughly 10% of the population of the United States suffers from RLS. Women and diabetics suffer from the disease more commonly than others in the general populous.
Ambien is commonly recommended by doctors for use with RLS in order to get a pleasant night of rest.
Antiemetic
Antiemetics are drugs used to stop vomiting, nausea, motion sickness, and the side effects of general painkillers, chemotherapy, and opioid analgesics, which are narcotic painkillers derived from the poppy plant, such as novocain, codeine, and morphine.
Ambien seems to be effective as an antiemetic, and when you are suffering bad from nausea and such, you could really use a rest.
Using Ambien Properly
Please use Ambien only as directed by your physician. You should talk to your doctor before you begin using Ambien in any other way than he or she has directed.
Ambien is a habit-forming substance and may have side-effects. While only 2% of patients in clinical trials felt daytime drowsiness after taking Ambien for sleep, you will not want to drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how your Ambien regimen will affect you.
With many other uses for Ambien and Ambien CR still being discovered, it is no wonder many find it easier and less expensive to buy Ambien online. So many lives can be improved by it.
